Tragedy Strikes in Kerala: 150 Injured as Massive ‘Ball of Fire’ Ignites Cracker Mishap !

Thiruvananthapuram: Late Friday night, a fireworks mishap at a temple in Kerala’s Kasaragod district left over 150 people hurt, 10 of them critically. As guests assembled on the temple grounds fled for their lives, shocking images taken from the scene showed crackers starting a huge fire and a cloud of smoke.
In the north Malabar region, the tragedy happened near Anjootambalam Veererkavu during the celebration at the start of the holiday season.

According to witnesses, a firecracker display was going on at around midnight, and it’s possible that one of the crackers fell into the adjoining shed that held other crackers. Images showed the gathering in shock as the shed burst into enormous smoke and flames.

Priyesh and his cousins attended the festivities at the temple. “There was a thunderous blast first, followed by a ball of fire. Panic soon followed. The gathering was enormous. They were unable to move freely due to the large number of people gathered along the side of the shed. According to a Manorama Online story, he stated, “We started rushing people to nearby hospitals immediately.”

The temple’s representative, Sreerag, traveled from Bengaluru to take part in the celebration. When he heard the explosion, he was in charge of the crowd. “On the second day of the festival, we typically anticipate a large audience. The gathering was exceptionally large on Monday night.

“The shed was used to store Chinese crackers. It’s possible that a flower cracker’s spark got into the shed and set the crackers on fire,” he said.

Manorama has been informed by a number of locals that the warehouse was close to the cracker explosion site. The absence of watch has been attributed by panchayat representatives. Here, crackers don’t explode on a big scale. It’s a little occasion. According to Manorama Online, local ward member E Shajeer stated, “There should have been more caution regarding the distance between the shed and the place where crackers were burst.”

Inbasekar K, a collector from Kasaragod, stated that crackers should be kept at least 100 meters away from the point at which they burst, but in this case, it was only a few feet.
