The report states that the feature is currently being tested by beta users. When a participant shares their screen during a video call, the audio they play on their device will be transmitted to others in the call.
Importantly, this feature is not limited to one-on-one calls; it extends to group video calls as well. This means that users can enjoy a synchronized audio experience in both private and professional conversations.
Moreover, the feature enables participants in a call to watch videos together. By experimenting with shared audio during video calls, users can synchronize their video playback experiences. This opens up possibilities for virtual movie-watching sessions or collaborative content-sharing activities, enhancing the social aspect of the platform.
The rollout of this feature will occur gradually over the next few weeks, reaching more WhatsApp users on Android devices.
Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly working on another feature. Users will soon be able to connect with each other without the need to share contact details. This feature, expected in a future update of the web client, will simplify the process of finding and connecting with contacts on the platform.
As a component of this functionality, Android users of WhatsApp, as well as those accessing it through the web, will have the ability to establish a username for the purpose of customizing their profiles. This will facilitate easier connection with friends, family, and contacts by utilizing a distinct identifier.
Upon selecting a username, the user’s phone number will remain confidential. This additional security measure guarantees that users can communicate with others while keeping their personal contact information undisclosed. Furthermore, users will have the flexibility to modify their username at any time.
