A delegation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) employees called on Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan at his camp office here on Sunday and pleaded to him to see that the Central government scrapped its plan to privatise the corporation under the cover of disinvestment of its stake. They also asked him to work on raising money so the VSP could deal with the financial crisis.
October 7 is Naidu’s visitation to Delhi.
The discussion took on significance in light of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s upcoming travel to New Delhi on October 7. During his visit, Naidu is scheduled to discuss a number of problems with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Ministers, one of which is the proposed privatization of VSP.
Union Minister of State for Steel & Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma attempted to allay the fears of the PSU steel major’s workers by stating that the Center was investigating all viable options to get it out of the red and that in-depth discussions in this regard were held with all the stakeholders to find a lasting solution. Mr. Naidu and Mr. Pawan Kalyan have already expressed their resolve to protect the VSP.
