Vivo recently introduced its flagship smartphone, the Vivo X100 Pro, in India. This premium-level device stands out as one of the initial launches of 2024. Boasting impressive specifications such as a 50 MP triple camera setup, Dimensity 9300 SoC, and a generous 16 GB RAM, the Vivo X100 Pro is priced at Rs 89,999.
Vivo recently launched its flagship Vivo X00 series in India, with the Vivo X100 Pro being the standout device in the lineup. During my time with the phone, I was particularly impressed by its camera, which captures stunning pictures, especially when it comes to portraits and sunsets. This can be attributed to the Zeiss lens and Vivo’s custom V3 chip. In addition to its impressive camera, the Vivo X100 Pro is a well-rounded smartphone overall. It boasts a 5,400 mAh battery, 16 GB RAM, and an 8T LTPO AMOLED display. However, with a price tag of Rs 89,999 in India, the question arises: is it worth it? Our detailed review provides the answer to that question. But before you delve into the review, here are five key points about the phone.
Vivo X100 Pro review in 5 points:
Vivo X100 Pro: Display
The Vivo X100 Pro boasts a stunning 6.78-inch screen featuring an 8T LTPO AMOLED display and a 120 Hz refresh rate. What sets this display apart is its ability to automatically adjust the refresh rate based on usage, resulting in improved power efficiency. Additionally, the display is impressively bright, reaching up to 3,000 nits. While the display is curved around the sides, I find this design choice enhances the viewing experience and provides a better grip when holding the device.
Vivo X100: Design and build
The Vivo X100 Pro showcases a sleek build and a slightly elongated form factor, which contributes to a comfortable grip and ease of use. One notable design element on the rear of the device is the camera module, which maintains the circular camera design seen in the Vivo X90 series. The camera module is accentuated by a sleek metal bezel that mimics the halo of the sun. It’s worth mentioning that the bezel is thinner on all sides but slightly thicker towards the bottom of the camera module. While the unevenness of the bezel may bother some, it can easily be remedied with the included cover.
I received the Asteroid Black color variant, which appears matte black under dim lighting conditions. However, when light hits the back of the phone, a subtle shimmer becomes visible, adding a touch of elegance to the overall design.
Vivo X100 Pro: Performance and Battery life
Equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, the Vivo X100 Pro delivers exceptional performance. Throughout the few weeks of using the device, I encountered no lag when switching between multiple apps or playing demanding games like Asphalt 9. The Funtouch OS 14 further enhances the device’s performance, providing a clean and bloatware-free user experience.
Although the Dimensity 9300 SoC performs on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in real-world usage, it may slightly fall behind in terms of battery life. Despite having a 5,400 mAh battery, the Vivo X100 Pro didn’t impress me with its power backup throughout the day. It barely lasted a full day on a single charge. Even with heavy usage of the camera app and occasional switching between social media apps, the Vivo X100 Pro’s battery would only last for around 15 hours. However, the phone’s saving grace is its 100W fast charging support. By using the charger provided in the box, the phone can be charged from 0 to 50 percent in approximately 15 minutes.
Vivo X100 Pro: Camera
The camera on the Vivo X100 Pro is quite impressive. Unsurprisingly, the standout feature of this phone is its camera. It boasts a 50MP main camera and a unique periscope zoom camera. The zoom camera is equipped with a 100mm lens in front of a 50MP sensor, which has been certified by Zeiss APO. Additionally, it includes a 50MP ultrawide lens and utilizes Vivo’s advanced 6nm V3 imaging chip. For selfies, it utilizes a 32MP front camera.
With the exception of low light situations, the Vivo X100 Pro is capable of capturing excellent photos in various scenarios, although they may appear slightly over-saturated. The images are crisp and vibrant, showcasing bright colors. The portrait mode performs well, although it may encounter some challenges with background separation. Overall, the Vivo X100 Pro delivers social media-friendly pictures that are visually appealing, vibrant, and sharp.
