The national anthem is now mandatory during the morning assembly in all schools throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has instructed all schools in the Union Territory to commence the morning assembly with the national anthem.
The Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department, issued a circular directing all schools to ensure uniformity in the morning assembly across the Union Territory. The circular, released on Wednesday, emphasized that the morning assembly should start with the National Anthem following standard protocol. The department highlighted the importance of morning assemblies in fostering unity and discipline among students.
It mentioned that these assemblies play a crucial role in promoting moral integrity, community values, and mental peace. The circular also noted that the tradition of morning assemblies was not being consistently followed in various schools of JK UT. To address this, the department suggested 16 steps for schools to implement, including inviting guest speakers, raising awareness about the environment, and combating the drug menace.
