The ‘Ek Parivar-Ek Pehchan’ scheme introduced by the Yogi government in UP will streamline access to all government schemes for the residents through a single card. Additionally, it is expected to contribute significantly to the creation of job opportunities. Chief Minister Yogi has instructed officials to accelerate the implementation of the Family ID scheme.
What is Family ID Scheme
Under the ‘Ek Parivar-Ek Pehchan’ initiative, a unique identification number is being assigned to each family, and a comprehensive database of all families in the state is being compiled. Once the database is complete, these families will have direct access to over 70 government schemes at both the central and state levels. This will eliminate any hurdles related to scheme management, ensure transparency, and ensure that beneficiaries receive 100 percent of the scheme’s benefits.
Currently, approximately 15.07 crore individuals from around 3.60 crore families residing in Uttar Pradesh are benefiting from the National Food Security Scheme. The ration card number serves as the family ID for these households, while more than 01 lakh non-ration card holders have also been issued family ID cards.
For families who do not possess ration cards, provisions have been made to obtain a family ID by registering on familyid.up.gov.in. This initiative is being widely promoted to ensure that no family in the state is left without this identification.
Benefit of more than 70 schemes
The government has implemented a new policy requiring Aadhaar verification for online applications related to various schemes. Additionally, Aadhaar verification will be necessary for admission into higher educational institutions and will be connected to the family ID. In addition to these changes, CM Yogi has instructed the simplification of the process for issuing caste and income certificates.
It is important to note that over 70 schemes and services provided by both the Central and State Government have already been linked to the Family ID. These encompass a wide range of initiatives, including scholarships, skill development programs, grants for farmers and workers, employment opportunities for youth, and pension schemes. Furthermore, the remaining schemes will also be integrated with the family ID in the future. The database containing information about all the schemes operated in collaboration with the Central Government will be acquired and connected to the family welfare passbook and family ID.
Basis of ease of living and good governance
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a series of crucial directives to the officials following a thorough evaluation of the Family ID scheme. Post-review, the CM emphasized the necessity for every family to possess a family ID card, serving as a means to address all the family’s requirements. This initiative aims to provide direct assistance to the underprivileged and impoverished individuals. The CM highlighted that this scheme will lay the foundation for enhanced quality of life and effective governance.
