“Two Terrorists Neutralized in Kathua Encounter, Jammu and Kashmir”

Srinagar: In a recent development, the two terrorists responsible for the shooting in a village in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, have been neutralized in a confrontation. Tragically, a paramilitary soldier also lost his life during the exchange of gunfire.

Overnight, two separate encounters took place in Jammu, which extended into the morning hours. One of these encounters occurred in Doda, where an army post was attacked, resulting in injuries to five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO).

Interestingly, just a couple of days prior to these terror incidents in Jammu, a bus carrying pilgrims was targeted in Reasi. The bus veered off the road and fell into a gorge, claiming the lives of nine passengers.

Anand Jain, the Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu zone, is overseeing the anti-terrorist operations in Kathua. He provided detailed information about the encounters earlier this morning.

Regarding the incident in Doda, Jain stated that terrorists opened fire on a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in the Chattargala area late last night. Currently, a confrontation is ongoing between the security forces and the terrorists in the higher regions.

According to the police, two terrorists were involved in the attack in Kathua yesterday evening, and one of them was eliminated last night. The second terrorist, armed with a US-made M4 carbine assault rifle, had taken refuge in the forested area and was neutralized this morning.

According to the police, the terrorists aroused suspicion among villagers by requesting water from multiple houses and resorted to firing when some villagers raised an alarm. Mr. Jain clarified that only one civilian was injured in the shooting and dismissed reports of three deaths in the Kathua attack as rumors. The security personnel who lost their lives during the encounter belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

ADGP Jain referred to the Kathua attack as a “fresh infiltration” and indirectly pointed towards Pakistan as the hostile neighbor responsible for disrupting peace in the country. He stated, “This (Hiranagar Terror attack) appears to be a fresh infiltration.”

Jammu has recently experienced an increase in terrorist activities, even in areas previously considered free of terrorism.

In a separate incident two days prior, a bus heading towards the Shiv Khori cave temple was attacked in Reasi. The terrorists opened fire after the bus driver refused to let the passengers disembark. However, they lost control and the bus fell into a gorge, resulting in the death of nine people and injuries to 33 others. Officials stated that the attack was carried out under the orders of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza.
