“Transformative Momentum: PM Modi Unveils Rs. 32,000 Crore Mega Development Initiatives for Jammu and Kashmir”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in the progress of Jammu and Kashmir by commencing and initiating the construction of numerous development initiatives valued at more than Rs 32,000 crore at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu.

These extensive projects encompass a wide range of sectors such as railways, healthcare, education, aviation, petroleum, and civic infrastructure, among various others.

Airport’s new terminal building in Jammu

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the construction of a new terminal at Jammu Airport. The upcoming terminal, covering an area of 40,000 sqm, will offer contemporary amenities for approximately 2,000 travelers. Additionally, it will highlight the rich local culture of the area and enhance air transportation services.

The Banihal-Sangaldan section of India’s Railways has successfully established connectivity, marking a significant milestone in its rich history.

The inauguration of the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section holds great importance as it incorporates the implementation of Ballast Less Track (BLT) throughout the entire route, enhancing the comfort of the passengers. Additionally, the region between Khari-Sumber houses India’s longest transportation tunnel, T-50, spanning 12.77 kilometers. These railway initiatives will enhance connectivity, promote environmental sustainability, and contribute to the overall economic growth of the area.

Marquee road projects 

During the event, Prime Minister Modi initiated significant road projects, which included the establishment of two packages (44.22 KM) for the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway that connects Jammu to Katra. Additionally, the second phase for the four-laning of Srinagar Ring Road, as well as five packages for the enhancement of the 161 km long Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri stretch of NH-01, were also inaugurated. Furthermore, the construction of Kulgam Bypass and Pulwama Bypass on NH-444 was announced. These road projects will not only facilitate the pilgrimage to the revered shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi but also contribute to the overall economic development of the region.

The education sector has been allocated major projects worth Rs 13,375.

Prime Minister Modi has recently launched and laid the foundation stone for various educational projects totaling approximately Rs 13,375 crore. These projects encompass the establishment of permanent campuses for IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, and IIITDM Kurnool, as well as academic and residential complexes for IIT Patna and IIT Ropar. Additionally, the inauguration included two permanent campuses for Central Sanskrit University in Devprayag (Uttarakhand) and Agartala (Tripura).

Furthermore, the Prime Minister also unveiled the permanent campuses for IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Jammu, and IIM Bodh Gaya. He is set to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Kanpur, which aims to provide cutting-edge skill training in advanced technologies. Modi also dedicated upgraded infrastructure such as hostels, academic buildings, administrative facilities, libraries, and auditoriums in various higher education institutions nationwide, including IIT Jammu, NIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Durgapur, IISER Berhampur, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, IIIT Lucknow, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and the Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod.

CUF Petroleum depot

The Prime Minister inaugurated the commencement of a project aimed at constructing a CUF (Common User Facility) Petroleum depot in Jammu. This advanced and automated depot will be established with an estimated expenditure of approximately Rs 677 crore. It will possess a storage capacity of around 1,00,000 KL, enabling the storage of various petroleum products such as Motor Spirit (MS), High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO), Aviation Turbine fuel (ATF), Ethanol, Bio diesel, and winter grade HSD.

Other key projects

PM Modi has also commenced and set the groundwork for numerous development initiatives valued at over Rs 3,150 crore. These projects aim to enhance the civic infrastructure and provide essential public amenities throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The initiatives encompass road construction and bridge development, establishment of grid stations, receiving stations, and transmission lines, as well as the construction of common effluent treatment plants and sewage treatment plants, among other endeavors.
