Tragic Baramulla Attack: Two Soldiers and Two Porters Killed, Three Injured !

Srinagar, October 24: A large-scale effort is in progress to find the assailants after a shootout in the Butapathri region of the Baramulla district in north Kashmir on Thursday night claimed the lives of two Rashtriya Rifles soldiers and two porters, while three more were wounded.
The event happened after an Army vehicle was fired upon by local terrorists who were hiding there.

The 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) convoy was heavily fired upon during the attack, which occurred close to the Line of Control (LoC) at Nagin Dhok in the Butapathri area.

Sources in the security establishment said that the vehicle skidded off the road after it came under heavy fire.

“Two porters and two soldiers were killed,” they said adding that three soldiers were injured and they have been rushed to a hospital.

The deceased porters have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary of Nowshera Boniyar and Zahoo Ahmad Mir of Barnate Boniyar.

They said that a massive search operation is underway in the area and is being supervised by senior officers of the security forces.

“More reinforcement has reached the location and is supporting the troops that have already been deployed,” they stated.

The Army truck was the target of the second strike in J&K since Sunday.

Three days prior, at least two terrorists had assaulted a housing camp for construction workers constructing a tunnel, killing six of them along with a doctor.

The victims were identified as Muhammad Haneef, Faheem Nasir, and Muhammad Kaleem from Bihar, Anil Shukla from Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Shahnawaz from Nayidgam, Budgam; Shashi Abrol from Jammu; and Gurmeet Singh from Gurdaspur, Punjab.
