“Tragedy Strikes: Goods Train Collides with Kanchanjungha Express Near New Jalpaiguri, Multiple Casualties Feared”

The Kanchanjungha Express train accident occurred on Monday morning near New Jalpaiguri when it collided with a goods train, according to a senior official from the North Frontier Railway (NFR). The divisional railway manager of NFR’s Katihar Division stated that there are unconfirmed reports of a few individuals being injured in the incident, which took place at approximately 9 am. The collision took place near Rangapani, close to New Jalpaiguri station, involving the 13174 Kanchanjunga Express from Agartala and the goods train.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee expresses shock over train accident 

In a recent social media post, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her dismay regarding the train accident that occurred in the Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. She mentioned that the district magistrate, doctors, and other high-ranking officials were promptly dispatched to the site of the incident. Banerjee further stated that the Kanchenjunga Express had reportedly collided with a goods train, although further details are still awaited. She assured that a swift response was initiated, with the deployment of ambulances, disaster teams, and necessary resources for rescue, recovery, and medical assistance.

In relation to the recent rear collision involving Train No.13174 – Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express, the helpline numbers at Sealdah are as follows: BSNL No. 033-2350 8794 and Railway Auto Phone No. 033-238333826.
