The Prime Minister inaugurates the Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Swarved Mahamandir, an impressive temple consisting of seven floors. Situated in Varanasi’s Umaraha area, the temple can accommodate up to 20,000 individuals for meditation. Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Modi explored the premises after the inauguration.

During his visit to the temple, Prime Minister Modi also participated in the centenary celebration of Vihangam Yoga. This visit marked his second time at the temple, with his first visit taking place in December 2021. The annual gathering of Vihangam Yog pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Vihangam Yog Sansthan by Sadguru Sadafal Deoji Maharaj, a revered spiritual leader, mystic poet, and seer. The Mahamandir houses the idol of this esteemed seer.

Here’s everything you need to know about this grand spiritual edifice:

  • The Swaraveda Mahamandir, located in the Umrah area, approximately 12 km from the city center of Varanasi, is an architectural marvel. With its 125 petalled lotus domes and a seating capacity of 20,000, it stands as one of the largest meditation centers globally. Spanning across a vast area of 300,000 square feet, this temple holds great significance.
  • In 2004, the foundation of the Mahamandir was laid by Sadhguru Acharya Swatantra Dev and Sant Pravar Vigyan Dev. The construction of this magnificent structure required the collaborative efforts of 600 workers and 15 engineers. The temple boasts 101 fountains, intricately carved doors, and a teak wooden ceiling, adding to its allure.
  • The walls of the seven-storey superstructure Mahamandir are adorned with verses from the Swarveda, a spiritual text written by Sadhguru Shri Sadaphal Devji Maharaj, the eternal yogi and founder of Vihangam Yoga. The pink sandstone walls and the beautiful garden with medicinal herbs further enhance its grandeur.
  • Named after the Swarveda, the temple aims to illuminate mankind with its brilliant spiritual aura and bring about a state of peaceful alertness in the world. It promotes the teachings of Svarveda, emphasizing Brahma Vidya, a body of knowledge that empowers spiritual seekers to attain a state of perfect Zen characterized by unwavering stillness, peace, and happiness.
  • The Swaraved Mahamandir stands as a testament to architectural excellence and spiritual enlightenment, inviting individuals to explore the depths of their inner selves and find tranquility within its sacred walls.
