During a rally in Solapur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became emotional and struggled to hold back tears while discussing the houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) scheme in Maharashtra. These houses were intended to be handed over to underprivileged beneficiaries such as handloom workers, vendors, power loom workers, and rag pickers.
In his address to the crowd, PM Modi expressed, “For a considerable period, the nation echoed the slogans of ‘Garibi Hatao’ (eradicate poverty). However, despite these slogans, poverty persisted.”
