The deadline for applying for the National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year has been extended to December 31. Candidates who are eligible can register for the scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal until the last date. This scholarship is designed to help economically weaker students avoid dropping out of class 8. The amount awarded is ₹12,000 per student per year.
Students who have a family income of at least ₹3,50000 per year can apply for scholarships. They have to have at least 55 percent marks or equivalent in class 7 exams to take part in the scholarship selection test.
Every year, the central sector gives out a lakh scholarships to students from class 9 and 10 to 12 who are studying in government, government-aided, or local government schools. The money is sent directly to the students’ bank accounts through an electronic transfer using the PFMS system.
