Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘GOAT’ Shatters Three Box Office Records !

The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), starring Thalapathy Vijay, opened with a bang at the box office, making Tamil cinema history’s greatest opening ever. The film, which was directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, broke records for Tamil movies with its opening day earnings of an estimated Rs 55 crore across India. The impressive box office results demonstrate Vijay’s enormous fan following and the excitement that surrounds the release.

The action-drama-emotion movie debuted in more than 4,000 cinemas throughout the globe, which helped to account for a significant portion of its astounding opening day revenue. On its opening day, GOAT had remarkable occupancy rates of 76.23% nationwide, with Rs 38.3 crore coming from the Tamil edition alone. Despite receiving a somewhat poorer reception in other territories, the film also made Rs 1.7 crore from its Hindi release and Rs 3 crore from its Telugu release.

A Historic Opening for Tamil Cinema

Thanks to GOAT’s first-day profits, it has become the fifth Kollywood film overall and the third Vijay film to break the Rs 50 crore mark. The movie made between Rs 32 to Rs 35 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, which puts it in the exclusive Rs 30 crore-plus club alongside Vijay’s earlier hits like Sarkar, Beast, and Leo. Early indications indicate that GOAT is on track to surpass Beast’s current first-day record, which stands at Rs 35 crore.

The success of the picture was mostly due to Vijay’s star power, especially as it doesn’t rely on a compelling musical score or a cinematic universe like Leo to entice viewers. Vijay’s supremacy at the Tamil Nadu box office is further cemented by the movie’s success, supporting his claim to be the “Greatest of All Time.”

World Box Office Record and Contradictory Evaluations

GOAT has also had a great deal of success abroad. Just after Leo, the movie is said to have made Rs 110 crore worldwide on its opening day, making it the second Vijay film to do so. Industry observers predict that GOAT will rank among the highest-grossing Tamil films ever made in the coming days based on these figures.

Critics gave GOAT mixed reviews despite its massive film office triumph. The film’s action-packed scenes and stellar cast won plaudits, however several critics pointed out the shallow character development and unimpressive antagonist portrayal.

GOAT Cast and Storyline

In The Greatest of All Time, Akhil portrays a younger Jeevan, while Vijay plays two roles: M.S. Gandhi and Jeevan. Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Sneha, and Ajmal Ameer are among the supporting cast members. The film’s plot is made more intriguing by the fact that it is based on true occurrences, such as the 2004 Moscow Metro bombing. The film’s compelling storyline and excellent production quality have attracted a lot of interest from viewers.
GOAT was produced on an enormous budget of Rs 400 crore, which includes Rs 200 crore for Vijay’s salary. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film’s soundtrack, while Siddhartha Nuni handled the photography and Venkat Raajen handled the editing.

Box Office Breakdown

On its first day of business, GOAT brought in over Rs 37 crore from Tamil Nadu and another Rs 18 crore from the rest of India. The movie did very well in Kerala, earning Rs 6 crore there, and Karnataka, earning Rs 9 crore. But in the Telugu-speaking states, where Vijay’s earlier films performed better at the box office, it was a failure.

The movie did better in non-Tamil Nadu areas like Karnataka and Kerala than it did in the Telugu states, where attendance was comparatively lower. The movie’s music and cultural themes could not have struck as much of a chord with viewers in these regions, according to analysts.
