The Indian national cricket team has been performing magnificently in the ongoing edition of the ODI 2023 World Cup. The team has won 10 matches in a row and has secured their place in the final of the tournament at the iconic Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, which will be held on Sunday, 19th November.
The team arrived in Ahmedabad after winning the semi-final match against New Zealand on Wednesday, 15th November, at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai by 70 runs. The ‘Men in blue’ received a warm welcome at the ITC Narmada Hotel.
As the players walked through the lobby, the hotel staff presented them with a guard of honour. Indian flags were fluttering in the breeze, making the players smile. The nation is once again dreaming as Rohit Sharma’s team is on the verge of creating history.
India will face Australia in the final of the flagship event in front of over one lakh spectators at the Narendra Modi stadium in Kolkata on 19 November. The ‘Men in Yellow’ qualified for the summit clash after thrashing South Africa by three wickets in the second semi-final on Thursday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The clash between India and Australia will be a re-enactment of the World Cup final of 2003. At that time, Ricky Ponting’s men had thrashed the then champions in Johannesburg by eight wickets. A few decades later, India fans will have their chance to get revenge against the mighty Australians. The visitors are chasing down a record-breaking sixth ODI world cup title. India will be aiming to become the second team after Australia to lift the coveted trophy for a third time.
India played Australia in the tournament opener in Chennai, where the hosts registered a six-wicket triumph after chasing down a target of 200 in 42 overs. KL Rahul scored a half-century, supported by Kohli who also made a half-century.
