“Tamannaah Bhatia Summoned: Alleged Involvement in Illegal IPL Streaming App Case”

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has been summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber department in a case related to the illegal broadcast of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Fairplay app, a subsidiary of Mahadev online gaming and betting application.

Tamannaah, known for her roles in films like ‘Baahubali’, has been summoned on April 29.

Earlier, rapper and singer Badshah was questioned in the same case. Actor Sanjay Dutt was also summoned in the case this week on Tuesday, but he has sought time to appear before the department.

Last year in September, an FIR was filed after a complaint from Viacom18, the owner of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for broadcasting IPL matches. The complaint highlighted that the Fair Play platform, a betting app, was illegally streaming IPL matches on their platform, resulting in a loss of over Rs 100 crore for Viacom18.

After the FIR, various celebrities such as Badshah, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others were summoned for interrogation. In December 2023, an employee of the betting app was taken into custody.
