Personal data of around 1.5 million individuals may have been compromised in the data breach at Tata-owned Taj Hotels Group earlier, this month as per information acquired by ET
As per an ET report, a person known as “Dnacookies” has requested $5,000 (equivalent to ₹4,16,549) for the extensive dataset. This dataset contains a considerable amount of personal information of Taj Hotels Group customers, including addresses, membership IDs, mobile numbers and more. The compromised customer data spanned the period from 2014 to 2020 and was reportedly breached by “Dnacookies.”
The hotel group acknowledged that both the cyber security watchdog and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) have been informed about the breach.
“We are investigating this claim and have notified the appropriate authorities,” the spokesperson said, emphasizing the company’s commitment to prioritizing the security of customer data.
Furthermore, the hotel group confirmed that it is continuously monitoring its systems and has not indicated any current or ongoing security concerns that could impact business operations.
Additionally, IHCL operates various hospitality properties including Selections, Vivanta, Ginger and others along with Taj.
