SC Verdict Awaited: Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail Plea Arguments Conclude, Decision Expected Tuesday !

On Thursday, the Supreme Court postponed ruling on appeals brought up by Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, contesting his detention by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over a purported scandal involving the now-cancelled Delhi liquor policy and requesting release.

“Reserved order. I’m grateful. After hearing arguments in support of and opposition to Kejriwal’s plea, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan concluded their deliberations and announced, “See you on Tuesday.”

In a case brought before the Enforcement Directorate concerning the same purported liquor policy scam, Arvind Kejriwal was already given bail. He was arrested by the CBI in its own case, nevertheless, and is still being held in judicial custody.
When the Supreme Court criticized the CBI for arresting Kejriwal while he was under judicial custody in the ED case, this issue was raised during the arguments on Thursday. “When you are in custody… if you are arresting him again, then you need the permission of the court,” said the bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan. The Criminal Procedure Code has anything.”
