Serious Concerns’: PM Modi Speaks Out on Women Safety Following Kolkata Rape-Murder Outrage !

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of prompt justice in cases involving crimes against women, stating that this will increase their sense of security. His words were made at a time when anger in India was being felt over the reported rape and murder of a 31-year-old woman trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, as well as the sexual assault of two kindergarten girls in Thane.

Atrocities against women and children’s safety are major problems for society today. In front of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Modi addressed the opening session of a national conference of district judges, saying that the sooner justice is served in cases of atrocities against women, the more confidence half of the population will have in their safety.

According to Modi, there are many strict laws that address crimes against women, and in order to provide prompt justice, there needs to be more cooperation between the criminal justice system.
His words followed a letter West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to Modi on Friday, repeating her demands for strict national laws with model penalties for horrible crimes like rape and murder.
“In the Amritkaal of Independence, 140 crore countrymen have only one dream – Developed India, New India,” Modi stated in his speech. That is, a new India that is determined and thinks like a modern India. One solid foundation supporting this goal is our judiciary.

According to the prime minister, tremendous efforts have been undertaken to end legal delays.
“Significant attempts have been made at several levels to end delays in justice throughout the last ten years. Over the past ten years, the nation has invested over Rs8,000 crore on the advancement of its judicial infrastructure. It’s interesting to note that in the last ten years alone, 75% of the whole sum spent on judicial infrastructure over the previous 25 years has been spent,” the PM stated.

“The Indian Judicial Code is a new piece of Indian judicial legislation. ‘Citizen First, Dignity First, and Justice First’ is the motto of these statutes. The colonial attitude of masters and slaves is not present in our criminal laws,” he continued.

In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the judiciary and the Supreme Court had fulfilled their duty as the Constitution’s guardians.

Additionally, according to Modi, there has never been any mistrust among Indians for the judiciary or the Supreme Court.

The prime minister described the Emergency’s implementation as a “dark” time and stated that the judiciary was essential to protecting fundamental rights.

Modi stated that the judiciary has upheld national integrity in areas of national security by prioritizing national interests.
