The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of India to investigate an allegation of extra votes being recorded in favor of the BJP during a mock poll in Kerala. Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta issued this directive during the EVM-VVPAT case hearing, after being informed about the issue.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the Association for Democratic Reforms, referred to a report by Manorama Online detailing complaints from the LDF and UDF regarding the EVMs in Kasargod constituency.
The report mentioned that four EVMs mistakenly registered additional votes for the BJP. Justice Khanna instructed Maninder Singh to look into the matter. The bench is currently reviewing petitions for 100% VVPAT verification, with today marking the second day of the hearing.
