Report:- “Mahua Moitra approached the Supreme Court to challenge her expulsion from the Lok Sabha”

Mahua Moitra, a leader of the Trinamool Congress, has taken legal action against her expulsion from the Lok Sabha. The Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha found her guilty of endangering national security by sharing her parliamentary portal login credentials with businessman Darshan Hiranandani. Moitra argues that the ethics panel did not have the authority to expel her and denies accepting cash from Hiranandani.

She also claims that she was not given the opportunity to cross-examine Hiranandani and another colleague. The panel’s recommendation for her removal was made in November and the report was presented in the Lok Sabha on 8 December. Moitra defends herself by stating that she provided login passwords to her employees to assist them in typing their queries on the portal. Despite her expulsion, Moitra vows to continue fighting against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for the next three decades.

Moitra’s removal sparked a strong response from the opposition, who stood firmly behind her and insisted that she deserved more time to review the extensive document. Shashi Tharoor, a member of the Congress party, expressed confidence in his victory in the upcoming elections, predicting a significant margin of success.
