Microsoft, Anthropic, and Perplexity are some of the companies that have declined to negotiate, causing Huffman to characterize the situation as “a significant inconvenience” in blocking them.
Reddit has been combatting unauthorized web crawlers and modified its robots.txt file in July to block those without agreements. This action has already produced noticeable results, as Reddit results now exclusively appear in Google search results due to their paid agreement.
