“Rare Side Effects Acknowledged: AstraZeneca Reveals Covishield Vaccine Risks”

AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical giant, has acknowledged for the first time that their Covid vaccine can result in a rare side effect known as Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome. This admission, found in court documents during a class action lawsuit, could potentially lead to a significant financial settlement for the company. The lawsuit alleges that AstraZeneca’s vaccines have caused deaths and serious injuries in numerous cases. This information was reported by Telegraph UK. It is important to note that the Covid-19 vaccine Covishield, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, was manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and extensively used in India.

What is TTS?

TTS, also known as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), is an extremely rare syndrome characterized by blood clots and low platelet count. According to a report in Health Direct, symptoms of TTS typically manifest between 2-42 days after receiving the vaccine, with a slightly higher risk observed in individuals over the age of 60. In October 2021, a prominent private facility in Delhi, India, reported seven cases of Covid vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia, detected through “gold standard tests,” and unfortunately, one patient succumbed to complications.

The Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) in Delhi claimed to have recorded the first case of VITT in India in June 2021, when a serum sample from a young patient was sent from the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) at Delhi Cantonment and confirmed through the “gold standard test.” Tragically, due to delayed referral, the individual could not survive. Similar cases have been reported in Denmark, the UK, Germany, and Canada since early 2021, leading the UN to issue guidelines for the diagnosis and management of TTS on August 11, as reported by PTI. In 2023, Jamie Scott, a father of two, filed a lawsuit against the vaccine manufacturer, alleging that he suffered a permanent brain injury after developing a blood clot following vaccination in April 2021.

AstraZeneca, despite contesting these allegations, has acknowledged in a document that its Covid vaccine can lead to TTS in extremely rare instances, as stated by the publication. In a confession made in February, the company stated, “It is acknowledged that the AZ vaccine can, in very rare cases, cause TTS. The exact causal mechanism remains unknown.”

This admission by AstraZeneca contradicts their previous claim in 2023 when they informed Scott’s lawyers, “We do not accept that TTS is caused by the vaccine at a general level.”

While lawyers argue that the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is “defective,” the company has consistently maintained that TTS can occur even without the administration of their vaccine.

Meanwhile, Scott’s wife expressed to Telegraph that although AstraZeneca’s admission is a step forward, she still expects more accountability from both the government and the company.

“The medical community has long recognized that VITT was caused by the vaccine. It is only AstraZeneca who has questioned whether Jamie’s condition was a result of the jab… It has taken three years for this admission to surface. It signifies progress, but we anticipate further action from them and the government. It is time for a more expedited approach.”
