Rajasthan Minister Kirodi Lal Meena Resigns, Staying True to Campaign Promise !

BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena has stepped down from the Rajasthan Cabinet following his commitment to resign if the party failed to secure victory in any of the seven Lok Sabha seats within his jurisdiction, as per his associate on Thursday.

The 72-year-old leader fulfilled his promise after the party faced defeat in several constituencies, including his hometown of Dausa. This pledge was made by Meena during the Lok Sabha election campaign. “Minister Kirodi Meena has tendered his resignation. He submitted the resignation to the chief minister a decade ago,” stated the aide.

In the Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, the BJP emerged victorious in 14 out of 25 seats, while the Congress showed progress by securing eight seats, one of which was Dausa. Other political parties managed to win three seats.

The election results were officially declared on June 4th.

Meena was responsible for overseeing various portfolios, such as agriculture, horticulture, rural development, disaster management, relief and civil defence, as well as public charge resolution.

During the state assembly elections last year, Meena successfully won from Sawai Madhopur as the BJP claimed victory in 115 out of 200 constituencies, leading to the displacement of the Congress, which only secured 66 seats.
