Rahul Gandhi claims that PM Modi made no efforts for nine years to resolve the Naga political matter!

During a public rally in Nagaland’s Mokokchung town, Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Congress party, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his inaction in resolving the Naga political issue. Gandhi emphasized that without the trust and involvement of the Naga people, a solution cannot be achieved. He further rebuked the Prime Minister, stating that it is unacceptable to deceive the Naga people by claiming to have a solution when none exists. Gandhi reiterated that the Congress party recognizes the gravity of the issue and the urgent need for a resolution.

During a press briefing held in Chiephobozou on Tuesday, Mr. Gandhi emphasized that his party remains dedicated to resolving the long-standing Naga Political Issue, in reference to the Framework Agreement.

The Naga insurgency commenced in 1947, prompting the Centre to engage in separate negotiations with NSCN-IM since 1997 and the Working Committee of Naga National Political Group (NNPG) since 2017 in order to find a resolution to this long-standing issue. In 2015, the Modi Government signed a Framework Agreement with NSCN-IM and an Agreed Position with NNPGs in 2017. However, the ultimate solution is yet to be achieved as NSCN-IM remains steadfast in their demand for a distinct flag and constitution for the Nagas.Having traveled approximately 180 km from Khuzama village in Kohima district to Mokokchung by road, Mr. Gandhi expressed his observation of the poor road conditions and the inconsistent power supply.

He expressed his concern about the ability of young Nagas to compete with their counterparts in the country who have access to better facilities. He viewed this as a betrayal to the people of Nagaland and questioned how they can expect to bring a positive future to the region with the current state of roads.Stating that there is an ongoing ideological war in India, the Congress leader accused the RSS and BJP of attacking various cultures and religions in the country. He emphasized the importance of respecting each other’s traditions, cultures, food habits, and religious practices as Indians, but criticized the RSS and BJP for disrespecting and attacking them.Furthermore, he criticized the Prime Minister for not visiting Manipur despite the months of ethnic strife in the state. He expressed his disappointment as an Indian and stated that he felt ashamed that the Prime Minister had not yet visited Manipur after the incidents that occurred there. In contrast, Mr. Gandhi himself visited Manipur for two days in June of the previous year, shortly after the outbreak of violence in the state. During his visit, he met with the affected people who were staying in relief camps across several districts.

He claimed that the purpose of the Yatra is to draw the attention of the entire nation towards the people of Manipur, Nagaland, and other northeastern states.According to Mr. Gandhi, once the Yatra is completed, he will return to Nagaland and spend additional days with the people, engaging with the youth and understanding their aspirations. The leader of the Congress party announced that from now on, the Nagas have a representative in New Delhi named Rahul Gandhi. He stated, “If you require me to address any issue in Parliament, I would be delighted to do so.”Furthermore, he encouraged young individuals, particularly girls, to participate in politics and provide Nagaland with a fresh vision for the future.Mr. Gandhi will rest for the night in Tuli and proceed to Assam on Thursday morning for the continuation of his Yatra.
