President Draupadi Murmu flaged off 3 new Trains connecting Rairangpur in Odisha with other cities on Tuesday (Nov 21st).

The President will visit the Badampahad railway station in Odisha, from where she will flag off three new trains (Badampahar-Tatanagar MEMU; Badampahad-Rourkela Weekly Express; and Badampahad-Shalimar Weekly Express), a railway statement said.
These trains pass through Murmu’s native town Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. At present, there is not a single mail/express train for Rairangpur station. Railway sources said that the local people were demanding mail/express trains connecting Badampahar and Rairangpur stations.

The President will also lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Badampahar Railway Station.

After flagging off the train, the President will board the Badampahar Shalimar Express and travel 32 km to Rairangpur along with 200 school students. This is the first time that the President is traveling in a normal AC train instead of the special Presidential train.

According to the statement, the trains will traverse through mineral-rich regions of Odisha, industrial areas of Jharkhand, and provide improved connectivity with West Bengal. The train service will also benefit individuals residing in nearby areas who wish to visit Kolkata and Howrah for various reasons. Additionally, students and job seekers from Badampahad/Rairangpur area will have convenient access to top-notch educational institutions and corporate establishments in West Bengal. The enhanced connectivity is expected to promote the growth and development of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.

The statement said this new train will allow tourists from West Bengal and Jharkhand to explore the picturesque landscapes and dense forests and Will encourage you to enjoy them.
