The Hindu litigants asserted in the previous month that the ASI survey report indicated that the Gyanvapi mosque was constructed upon the remnants of a magnificent Hindu temple.
Pune: Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, the treasurer of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, has called upon the Muslim side to relinquish the Gyanvapi and Mathura mosques as a means to peacefully resolve the disputes. He emphasized that if the Gyanvapi and Krishna Janmabhoomi issues are amicably resolved, the Hindu community will not pursue the reclamation of other temples.
“We have no desire to pursue the reclamation of other temples if we can secure the freedom of these three temples. Our focus lies in building a prosperous future rather than dwelling on the past. If we can peacefully obtain these three temples (Ayodhya, Gyanvapi, and Krishna Janmabhoomi), we will let go of all other matters,” he expressed during an event in Pune.
He further highlighted that the destruction of temples in Ayodhya, Gyanvapi, and Mathura stands as the most significant scars left by invaders, and it is crucial for the Muslim side to comprehend the pain associated with these incidents.
“With folded hands, I appeal to the Muslim side regarding these three temples (Ayodhya, Gyanvapi, and Krishna Janmabhoomi)… as they represent the deepest wounds inflicted by invaders. People are suffering, and if the Muslim side can peacefully address this pain, it will foster greater brotherhood,” he added.
The Hindu side asserts that the Gyanvapi and Mathura mosques were constructed by the Mughals after demolishing significant Hindu temples.
According to the Hindu litigants, the ASI survey report from last month stated that the Gyanvapi mosque was built upon the remains of a majestic Hindu temple.
Recently, a Varanasi court granted permission for puja to be conducted inside one of the cellars of the Gyanvapi mosque.
Subsequently, the Allahabad high court refused to issue a stay order on the Varanasi court’s decision.
The Gyanvapi mosque is located adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, while the Mathura mosque is situated next to the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple.
In response to the Varanasi district court’s ruling, Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, expressed his thoughts, stating that a wrongdoing had been corrected.
He stated, “An order has been issued allowing prayers to be performed there, and it should continue. It is a positive development that the right to conduct ‘Puja’ has been granted. The truth has been revealed. Those who obstructed the Puja and the manner in which it was halted were mistaken… I am grateful to the court for granting me the right to perform Puja. It is a moment of happiness… Stopping the Puja was incorrect, but now the mistake has been rectified.”
