It should be noted that the ongoing operation to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack on the Indian Air Force’s convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district has now entered its third day. Security forces have released sketches of two suspects believed to be involved in the attack, offering a total reward of Rs. 20 lakhs for information leading to their capture. The identities of individuals providing information on the terrorists will be kept confidential.
A coordinated effort between the army and police is currently underway in various areas, including Shahsitar, Gursai, Sanai, and Sheendara Top, to track down the terrorists who reportedly fled into a forest following the attack. Additionally, around 20 individuals have been detained by security forces in connection with the incident, as they are suspected of aiding the attackers.
During the gunfight that took place in the Poonch district on May 4, five personnel sustained bullet injuries near Shahsitar while advancing towards Sanai Top in Surankote. It was reported that nearly 30 rounds were fired by the terrorists. All injured personnel were promptly evacuated to the nearest military hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, Corporal Vikky Pahade succumbed to his injuries.
The mortal remains of Corporal Vikky Pahade have been brought to Chhindwara for his final rites. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has also arrived in Chhindwara to pay his respects. He mentioned that Corporal Vikky Pahade will receive a Guard of Honour and State honours, expressing pride in his service while acknowledging the irreplaceable personal loss.
