PM Modi is in New York: He met the leader on the side sidelines of the UN General Assembly session on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the United States on Sunday and expressed deep concern at the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He reiterated India’s support for the restoration of peace and stability in the region.
“In New York, I met President Mahmoud Abbas. reiterated India’s support for the prompt reestablishment of regional stability and peace. discussed ways to further our long-standing friendship with the Palestinian people,” Modi wrote in a post on X.
At the moment, PM Modi is in New York. On Sunday, he had a meeting with the leader outside of the UN General Assembly.
A post on X later stated, “PM Modi expressed deep concern at the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reaffirmed India’s continued support to the people of Palestine,” according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal.

Israel’s offensive in Gaza
Following Hamas’ terror attack on October 7, Israel launched an offensive on the organization, which led to a humanitarian crisis in the area.
According to figures from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has stated that, between October 7, 2023 and September 16 of this year, at least 41,226 Palestinians have died and 95,413 have been injured.
During this time, 1,542 Israelis and foreigners have also perished. The majority perished in the October 7 bombardment by Hamas.
India’s position on Palestine
India supports a long-term, peaceful resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. According to New Delhi, a two-state solution reached by discussion and negotiation will result in long-lasting peace.
