On March 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually commenced the operation of 10 new Vande Bharat trains from Ahmedabad. He also announced that he would be inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for various projects in sectors such as railways and petrochemicals. Additionally, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Vande Bharat trains and freight trains would be flagged off, and Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras in different regions would be dedicated to the nation. PM Modi urged everyone to join this program through his earlier tweet.
The Prime Minister is set to visit Ahmedabad to inaugurate numerous railway and petrochemical projects, collectively valued at over ₹1,06,000 crore, aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure and fostering growth in the chemicals industry, according to ANI.
During the visit, the Prime Minister initiated the construction of Railway Workshops, Loco Sheds, Pit lines/ Coaching Depots; the Phaltan – Baramati New line; Electric Traction System upgradation work. Additionally, he dedicated two new sections of the Dedicated Freight Corridor – the New Khurja to Sahnewal (401 Rkm) section of Eastern DFC and the New Makarpura to New Gholvad section (244 Rkm) of Western DFC. The Operation Control Center (OCC) of the Western DFC in Ahmedabad was also inaugurated.
In a significant move, PM Modi flagged off ten new Vande Bharat trains connecting various cities, including Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, Mysuru-Dr MGR Central (Chennai), Patna-Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Puri-Visakhapatnam, Lucknow-Dehradun, Kalaburagi-Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, Ranchi-Varanasi, and Khajuraho-Delhi (Nizamuddin).
The Prime Minister inaugurated the extension of four Vande Bharat trains. The Ahmedabad-Jamnagar Vande Bharat route is now extended till Dwarka, Ajmer-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Vande Bharat route is now extended till Chandigarh, Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat route is now extended till Prayagraj, and Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat route is now extended till Mangaluru. Additionally, two new passenger trains have been introduced between Asansol and Hatia, as well as Tirupati and Kollam stations.
Furthermore, he also launched freight trains on the Dedicated Freight Corridor from various locations including New Khurja Jn, Sahnewal, New Rewari, New Kishangarh, New Gholvad, and New Makarpura.
