Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this morning that Lal Krishna Advani, a veteran of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. In his statement, the Prime Minister emphasized Advani’s status as one of the most respected statesmen of our times and highlighted his monumental contribution to India’s development.

During a conversation on X, formerly Twitter, PM Modi expressed his happiness in sharing the news of Advani Ji being conferred with the Bharat Ratna. He also personally congratulated Advani on this prestigious honor.

Advani has an illustrious political career, having served as the Deputy Prime Minister in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Additionally, he has held various ministerial positions and has been a member of both Houses of Parliament from 1970 to 2019.
