OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone- the OnePlus Open.
It is all set to hit the shelves in India today. Launched last week, the smartphone is now available for pre-orders on the company’s official website. Notably, ahead of the OnePlus Open’s first sale in India, the company has released a software update to improve and address some of the problems that have been plaguing the premium-end smartphone.
OnePlus Open is the latest foldable smartphone from OnePlus. It is equipped with the most powerful processor available on the market, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 2 processor, and the Adreno 740 GPU. It is also equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 ROM, and is powered by a powerful dual-cell battery with a capacity of 4,805 mAh. It can be fast-charged using the popular 67W SUPERVOOC charging from OnePlus. The display of the OnePlus Open is 7.82 inches in size and is made of flexible AMOLED, with a dynamic refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The cover screen is 6.31 inches in size and has a 10-120 Hz dynamic refresh speed.
The main camera of the OnePlus Open is a 48 MP primary camera with an f/ 1.7 Sony LYT- T808 lens. The primary sensor supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), HDR (HDR) and EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation). The foldable also has an Ultra-wide (48 MP) sensor and a telephoto (64 MP) sensor. It comes with 4+ Years of Android OS Updates and 5+ Years of Security Patch
Price and Launch Offer:
The 16 GB RAM & 512 GB storage version of the OnePlus Open starts at Rs. 1,39,999 and comes in two colors – Emerald Dusk & Voyager Black. The foldable smartphone can be pre-ordered now and the first sale will take place from today. Customers who purchase the OnePlus Open will get an instant ₹5,000 discount on their ICICI bank and one card transactions. Moreover, the company is also offering a ₹8,000 trade-in bonus on exchange of certain smartphones.
Competition:
On the other hand, the OnePlus Open provides direct competition to Samsung Galaxy Z foldable, the king of the segment. What’s even more confusing is that both smartphones share the same processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 2, and are priced at the same price. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 starts at Rs. 1.54,999 with 256GB storage.
