Various businesses in Bengaluru have been motivated to offer incentives in order to boost voter participation in the democratic process during the upcoming Lok Sabha voting on April 26. With a significant number of eligible voters exceeding 1 crore in Bengaluru, establishments such as hotels, pubs, and taxi aggregators are enticing voters by providing discounts, freebies, and complimentary rides upon presenting their inked index finger. It is worth noting that similar initiatives have been witnessed in the past, highlighting the importance of encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote.
Complementary Dosa, Ghee Rice
Nisarga Grand Hotel, located on Nrupatunga Road, is offering voters a complimentary meal of butter dosa, ghee rice, and a beverage on the day of the election.
Free Mug of Beer
Deck of Brews, a restaurant and pub located in Bellandur, is extending a complimentary mug of beer and special discounts to individuals who visit on April 27 and 28 to cast their votes. Prafulla Raya, the proprietor, has conveyed his intention to acknowledge voters for their valuable role in the progress of the nation.
Discounts in Restuarants
SOCIAL, a different chain of pubs, is currently conducting a unique campaign where they are distributing bills to promote voting. Customers who bring back these bills after casting their vote and display their inked fingers will be entitled to a 20% discount on their meals for a week following the voting day in their respective cities.
Complementary Cab ride
Rapido, the taxi aggregator, is offering free rides to differently-abled and senior citizen voters in Bengaluru to guarantee equal access to voting for all citizens.
Pavan Guntupalli, Co-founder of Rapido, mentioned, “Our goal with this program is to make sure that every voter in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangaluru can easily fulfill their responsibility of voting… We are particularly focused on ensuring that differently-abled and senior citizen voters have fair opportunities to participate in the democratic process.”
Extended Bengaluru Metro Services
Additionally, to facilitate voter accessibility, the Bengaluru Metro will operate extended services on April 26th. Trains from all terminal stations and the Majestic interchange will run beyond their usual schedule to cater to voters engaging in the electoral process.
