NDA Alliance Update: PM Modi Submits Resignation to President, Recommends Cabinet Dissolution; Swearing-In Ceremony Possible on June 8 !

PM Modi tendered his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu at 2 pm on Wednesday and also proposed the dissolution of the cabinet.

Prior to this, the final meeting of the Modi cabinet took place at 11.30 am. During this meeting, the government approved a motion of thanks for the third consecutive victory.

The meeting suggested the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. Following this, Modi proceeded to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to hand in his resignation.

Modi is set to be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time on 8 June. All NDA MPs have been urged to show their support by signing. JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi mentioned that all NDA MPs will convene in the Central Hall of Parliament at 11 am on 7 June.

In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 240 seats. This falls short of the majority mark of 272. Nevertheless, the NDA surpassed the majority mark with 292 seats.

Chandrababu’s TDP emerged as the second largest party in the NDA with 15 seats, while Nitish’s JDU became the third largest party in the NDA with 12 seats. Both these parties hold significance for the BJP at present. It would be challenging for the BJP to form the government without their support.

President asks PM Modi to stay in office until new government is formed:

Narendra Modi had a meeting with President Draupadi Murmu, during which he tendered his resignation along with the Council of Ministers. The President graciously accepted his resignation and requested both him and the Council of Ministers to remain in office until the new government assumes responsibility.
