Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, leads the nation in terms of performance among chief ministers. The Mood of the Nation survey showed that CM Yogi defeated his opponents, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal, by a significant margin in the popularity fight.
According to the survey, 33.2% of participants from 30 states selected Adityanath as the nation’s most well-liked chief minister. In second place with 13.8 percent of the vote was Kejriwal.
Despite being the most well-liked chief minister in the nation, Yogi Adityanath’s approval rating in Uttar Pradesh decreased. Additionally, according to the survey, 39% of respondents were happy with CM Yogi’s work, which is a decrease of 12% from February 2024.
Yogi’s declining popularity can be linked to the BJP’s poor showing in Uttar Pradesh during the most recent Lok Sabha elections (2024). Just 33 seats in Uttar Pradesh were won by the BJP in the most recent Lok Sabha elections.
Two seats were won by NDA allies Jayant Chaudhary’s Rashtriya Lok Dal and Anupriya Patel’s Apna Dal (Soneylal), respectively. In the Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party obtained 37 seats, while the Congress secured 6. This resulted in an unexpected victory for the INDIA alliance.
What does poll say about other CMs?
With 9.1% of the vote overall, Mamata Banerjee emerged as the third most popular chief minister. Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin (4.7%) and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu (4.6%) had the lowest popularity ratings.
Additionally, according to the survey, roughly 35% of respondents were happy with CM Eknath Shinde’s performance, while 28% were not.
An additional 31% expressed some level of satisfaction with his job, suggesting that CM Shinde has the backing of the general population. Furthermore, Maharashtra voters were unimpressed with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) bloc’s involvement.
