The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has extended invitations to the Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bangladesh, and Mauritius, as well as the President of Sri Lanka and the King of Bhutan, to attend his upcoming swearing-in ceremony. This information was shared by individuals familiar with the matter to CNN-News18 on Wednesday.
PM Modi has invited Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Prime Minister of Nepal, and Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, to be present at the ceremony. Additionally, invitations have been extended to Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of Sri Lanka, and Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan.
Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to each of these leaders for their congratulations on the electoral success of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Through a series of tweets, he also mentioned that he had a telephone conversation with the aforementioned leaders.
“I thank Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her warm wishes. India and Bangladesh share historic relations, which have seen unprecedented growth in the last decade. I look forward to working together to further strengthen our people-centric partnership,” PM Modi said in a post on social media site X.
He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth for his phone call and sincere greetings. He eagerly anticipates ongoing cooperation between India and Mauritius to enhance the unique relationship between the two nations during his third term.
“Happy to speak with PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Thanked him for his warm wishes. We reaffirmed our shared commitment to bolster the deep-rooted and multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal, and agreed to sustain the positive momentum in our relations,” he said in another post.
“I thank His Majesty the King of Bhutan for his call and warm wishes. Bhutan-Bharat partnership is unique and exemplary. I look forward to continuing working together and taking this extraordinary partnership to higher levels,” he said in a separate post.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received congratulations on NDA’s electoral triumph from numerous world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, among many others.
