A significant landslide incident has resulted in the destruction of a substantial portion of a crucial highway in Arunachal Pradesh, leading to the disruption of road connections with Dibang Valley, a district situated along the border with China. The district encountered extensive landslides between the regions of Hunli and Anini along National Highway-33, owing to relentless heavy rainfall observed over the preceding days, as reported by authorities. In response to this critical situation, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has promptly activated efforts to mobilize resources for the repair and restoration of the highway segments affected by the calamity. Presently, there are assurances from officials that there is an adequate supply of essential commodities, including food, within the affected areas. Recognized as the lifeline for both local inhabitants and military operations in the district, NH-33’s disruption underscores the gravity of the situation.
