On Thursday, May 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Opposition for their alleged attempts to incite riots in the country through spreading false information about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He emphasized that the country has already begun granting citizenship under the CAA. The prime minister firmly stated that despite claims made by the “INDI alliance” to remove the CAA, it is an impossible task. Parties such as the Samajwadi Party and Congress were accused of spreading falsehoods about the CAA and making efforts to ignite riots, including in Uttar Pradesh.
Modi highlighted that even today, members of the INDI alliance assert that the CAA will be repealed once he leaves office, but he questioned if anyone in the country possesses the power to do so. He firmly stated that nobody can eliminate the CAA. Furthermore, Modi accused these parties of using fake secularism as a disguise to engage in votebank politics and fuel Hindu-Muslim conflicts. This statement was made during an election gathering in Lalganj, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
The process of granting citizenship to refugees under the CAA has already commenced, according to Modi. These individuals have been residing in the country for a significant period of time as refugees and were affected by the religious-based partition of the nation. Additionally, Modi accused the Congress of disregarding these refugees.
Modi claimed that the Congress and the SP attempted to spread falsehoods in relation to the CAA. He alleged that they endeavored to incite riots in Uttar Pradesh and the entire country.
Furthermore, Modi asserted that the enthusiasm displayed by the people of Srinagar during the elections is evidence that Article 370 cannot be reinstated and that the politics of vote bank cannot prevail.
During the rally in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Modi stated, “The Samajwadi Party and Congress are two parties, but they operate under the same agenda of appeasement, falsehoods, nepotism, and corruption.”
Modi further alleged that the Samajwadi Party and Congress aim to divide the country’s budget and allocate 15 percent to minorities.
Modi praised Yogi Adityanath for effectively implementing his cleanliness campaign in Uttar Pradesh by taking action against mafia, rioters, and extortionists.
