“Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna Summoned by SIT in Sexual Abuse Case”

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the sex video case allegedly involving Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna has called upon the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda to present himself for questioning within the next 24 hours. Additionally, the investigative agency has served a notice to his father and JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, as per reports from newswire PTI. The Karnataka government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into a series of explicit videos circulating in Hassan district of Karnataka, some of which purportedly feature Prajwal Revanna from the Janata Dal (Secular) party engaging in acts of sexual misconduct.

Prajwal, who ran as the BJP-JD(S) joint candidate for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, has left the country following the polling in his constituency on April 26. The Janata Dal (Secular) has decided to suspend Prajwal from the party until the investigation is concluded during a core committee meeting held on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Kailash, his former driver, refuted the claim of sharing a pen-drive containing alleged videos with Congress party leaders. He clarified that he had only shared it with BJP leader Devaraje Gowda and not with any Congress leader.

According to Kailash, Devaraje Gowda instructed him to hand over the photos and videos, assuring that they would be presented to the judge to help lift the stay imposed by Prajwal Revanna. Kailash trusted Gowda and provided him with a copy of the material.

However, Gowda has denied that either JD(S) or BJP would release the videos.

Meanwhile, HD Kumaraswamy, Kailash’s uncle and JD(S) leader, has distanced himself from the situation and stated that they will not protect him.

The Congress party leaders have accused the BJP of aiding Prajwal in escaping the country. In response, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party for not taking any action despite having a Congress government in the state.

Both the father and son have been charged under IPC sections 354A (sexual abuse), 354D (stalking), 506 (threat), and 509 (insult caused to the modesty of a woman).
