JioCinema has introduced new monthly subscription options in India, making its Premium service more accessible to users. This move, announced recently, allows subscribers to enjoy ad-free streaming of movies and TV series, including popular content from HBO, Paramount, Peacock, and Warner Bros. Furthermore, subscribers can now stream their favorite shows and films in up to 4K resolution and download content for offline viewing. The default plan permits streaming on one screen, while a family plan extends this to four devices.
Pricing details on the JioCinema website indicate that the monthly subscription for the individual plan starts at Rs. 29, while the family plan is priced at Rs. 89, allowing access on four screens simultaneously. However, the mention of “special introductory pricing” suggests that these rates could potentially increase to Rs. 59 and Rs. 149 per month for individual and family plans, respectively.
Previously, JioCinema Premium was only available through an annual subscription priced at Rs. 999. However, this option is no longer listed on the platform’s website, meaning customers must now opt for the monthly plan. With the current introductory pricing, the individual plan effectively costs Rs. 348 annually, significantly lower than the previous annual subscription. Meanwhile, the family plan amounts to Rs. 1,068 for a year.
In terms of cost, JioCinema now offers a more affordable alternative compared to other streaming services in India. For instance, the cheapest Netflix plan is priced at Rs. 149 per month, while both Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video require Rs. 299 for a one-month subscription.
It’s important to note that both JioCinema Premium plans promise ad-free streaming, except for live and sports content like the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. However, access to sports content remains free on the platform, although advertisements will still be displayed for subscribers opting for either of the JioCinema Premium plans.
