JDU’s Big Statement: Reconsider Agniveer, Unity on One Nation One Election, and UCC

NDA’s partner Janata Dal United (JDU) reaffirmed its position on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that the stance remains unchanged. JDU General Secretary and spokesperson KC Tyagi emphasized the importance of involving all stakeholders in the discussion. Tyagi highlighted that Nitish Kumar had previously communicated to the Law Commission Chairman expressing the need for thorough deliberation on the UCC, indicating openness to dialogue and collaboration.

Need to reconsider the Agniveer scheme

KC Tyagi mentioned that there was significant opposition to the Agniveer scheme, which had an impact on the elections. It is crucial to reconsider the scheme and approach it from a fresh perspective. The deployment of security personnel in the army led to discontent whenever the Agniveer scheme was brought up, resulting in opposition from a considerable portion of the population. It is my belief that even their family members continued to express dissent during the elections, highlighting the necessity for a new discussion on the matter.

Bihar should get the status of a special state

KC Tyagi expressed his endorsement of the One Nation, One Election initiative, stating that his party fully supports it. He emphasized that they have become a significant ally of the NDA and have effectively managed several crucial ministries in the Bihar government. Additionally, he reiterated their longstanding demand for Bihar to be granted special state status in order to curb migration from the region.
