Jammu & Kashmir: Security Forces Engage Militants in Pulwama Encounter !

An armed confrontation erupted between security personnel and insurgents in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, as reported by the Kashmir Zone Police through a social media update on June 3. The security forces initiated a search and cordon operation in the Nihama region of Pulwama, a district in south Kashmir, as informed by a police spokesperson to PTI. This operation was launched following specific intelligence regarding the presence of insurgents in the area. The search operation escalated into a confrontation when the insurgents opened fire on the security forces’ search party, prompting a retaliatory response. The exchange of gunfire is ongoing, with no casualties reported on either side at this time,” the spokesperson informed PTI.

Arms Cache Recovered

On May 17, a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, and military supplies were discovered during a collaborative effort between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police in Kupwara.

The Chinar Corps announced that this successful operation was referred to as ‘Operation Kot Nala’.
“Acting on specific intelligence, a joint search operation was initiated by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the dense forest area of Awra, Kupwara, today. As a result of the search, a terrorist hideout was uncovered, leading to the recovery of a substantial amount of weapons, ammunition, equipment, and other military supplies,” stated the Chinar Corps in a statement posted on X.

Additionally, three lieutenant colonels from the Indian Army and 13 others have been implicated in a case involving attempted murder and robbery during a violent attack on the Kupwara police station on May 30.
On May 6, the Indian Army successfully neutralized three terrorists in “Operation Redwani Payeen” in Kulgam.

The Army reported that the operation, which commenced on the night of May 6 and lasted for approximately 40 hours, concluded after a relentless surveillance effort.

In a post on X, the Chinar Corps declared, “A joint operation that began on the night of May 6 in the general area of Redwani Payeen, Kulgam, has now concluded after an unwavering surveillance effort of approximately 40 hours. Four terrorists have been eliminated, and a significant amount of military supplies has been recovered, dealing yet another blow to the terrorist network.”
