J-K Terror Attacks Ignite Controversy: Farooq Abdullah Argues Military Action Won’t Resolve Pakistan Issues, Calls for Dialogue !

Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference (NC), expressed his concerns regarding the recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. He emphasized the need for dialogue with Pakistan, stating that military action alone cannot solve the problems between the two countries.

Abdullah’s statement came after three separate terror attacks in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir within the past four days. The first attack occurred in Reasi, resulting in the tragic deaths of around nine to ten pilgrims. The second attack took place in Kathua, while the third was an encounter in Doda between terrorists and security forces, resulting in injuries to five jawans and a sub-divisional special police officer (SDPO). Abdullah highlighted the fact that terrorists are infiltrating through the borders and will continue to do so. He expressed concerns about the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, emphasizing the need to address the current situation, as any minor incident during the Yatra could have significant repercussions throughout the country.

Abdullah also made reference to the ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the war between Israel and Hamas. He emphasized that military action cannot bring about a resolution, citing the example of Ukraine and Russia where the war has persisted for over two years. Abdullah expressed that Kashmiris should not be held responsible for these conflicts, stating that they have never supported such actions. He highlighted the importance of dialogue as the only way forward, echoing the sentiments of India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar.

Abdullah welcomed the mention of Pakistan in Jaishankar’s remarks and expressed hope for continued dialogue and a solution. He also expressed a desire for a peaceful atmosphere with Pakistan and advocated for the revival of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Abdullah acknowledged the improved security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir but noted that terrorism still persists due to the porous border with Pakistan. He condemned the attacks on innocent pilgrims and called for unity in condemning such acts.
