India Approves New Eye Drops That Could Replace Glasses

In summary,

The medicines regulatory body of India has approved new eye drops that aid in the removal of reading glasses.

PresVu Eye Drops were created by Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals to treat presbyopia, a disorder that affects 1.09 billion to 1.80 billion people globally.

Presbyopia is a natural aging process that makes it harder to focus on near objects. Usually, it begins in the mid-40s and gets worse until the late 60s.

The product was suggested earlier by the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), and ENTOD Pharmaceuticals was granted final approval by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

PresVu is marketed as the first eye drop in India intended to help those with presbyopia, a common age-related vision issue affecting adults over 40, use fewer reading glasses.

A patent application has been made by the makers for this special formulation and its production method.
The unique mixture has the extra advantage of lubricating the eyes in addition to doing away with the necessity for reading glasses.

Because of its sophisticated dynamic buffer technology, the eye drops can instantly adjust to the pH of tears, guaranteeing long-term safety and consistent efficacy. This feature is very important because these drops are reusable for years.

In ophthalmology, the approval of PresVu represents a positive development. Regarding the clinical potential of PresVu, Dr. Dhananjay Bakhle stated, “For patients with presbyopia, this eye drop offers a non-invasive option that can enhance near vision without the need for reading glasses.”

This may have a big effect on productivity and day-to-day living. Those over 40 who struggle with near vision may become aware of the ailment when they begin holding reading materials at arm’s length. PresVu provides a non-invasive solution to improve near vision.
