A helicopter operated by Kestrel Aviation Co departed from Sirsi helipad en route to Sh Kedarnath Dham with 6 passengers and a pilot on board. However, it encountered a technical problem and had to make an emergency landing approximately 100 meters before reaching the helipad at around 7:05 am. The district disaster management officer in Rudraprayag stated that the landing was prompted by a technical glitch.
The helicopter experienced a hydraulic failure issue while preparing to land at Kedarnath helipad, causing it to spin out of control. The pilot, named Kalpesh, responded swiftly and managed to land the helicopter safely in an open field just before the helipad. Although the tail section of the helicopter sustained minor damage, all passengers and the pilot escaped unharmed. The incident has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and their team will conduct an investigation.
