In the Haldwani violence case, a new development has emerged in New Delhi. Over 300 individuals, including more than 100 policemen, have reportedly sustained injuries in the attack. Tragically, six lives have been lost. However, Nainital DM Vandana Singh has now made a significant statement regarding the Haldwani violence.
Singh has asserted that the Muslim community orchestrated a premeditated conspiracy, attacking the police force. They had prepared in advance by gathering stones, and even brought petrol bombs to target both the police and administration. Currently, Section 144 is enforced in the area, accompanied by the closure of internet services. Let us delve further into the details of Singh’s statement.
Petrol bombs were hurled.
According to DM Vandana Singh, the MCD owned the land and had sent multiple notices to remove the encroachment. However, despite the administration’s actions, the community refused to vacate the land. This led to the mob surrounding the police station, preventing anyone inside from leaving. The mob resorted to pelting stones and throwing petrol bombs, resulting in vehicles being set on fire and people suffocating from the smoke. Tear gas and water cannons were used solely to ensure the security of the police station. DM Vandana Singh emphasized that the CCTV footage clearly shows that neither the police nor the administration took any wrongful actions or attempted to provoke the situation. The administration was simply carrying out its duties peacefully.
