The Pixel 8 Pro, in particular, benefits from enhanced functionality within the thermometer app. This update enables users to record their body temperature, described as “medical grade,” and offers the option to store these records using the Fitbit app. Notably, this feature is exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro and won’t be available on the standard Pixel 8 or older models. The January feature drop aims to bring generative AI features and improved utility to Google’s flagship phone lineup.
In the latest feature drop for the Pixel 8 Pro, Google introduces Magic Compose, powered by its on-device Gemini Nano AI model. This enhancement allows users to choose from four distinct writing styles—Chill, Excited, Formal, and Shakespearean. Additionally, the Photomoji feature, now available on all currently supported Pixel phones, enables users to transform their photos into emojis for use in message reactions.
As part of the January Pixel feature drop, Google has rebranded the Nearby Share feature to Quick Share, aligning it with a feature offered by Samsung. This change, previously announced by the company, is set to be implemented across all Android smartphones in the future. Notably, Pixel Watch 2 owners will now enjoy seamless device switching when using Pixel Buds Pro, enhancing their overall user experience.
