This year’s theme draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. Considering the previous year’s specific theme of “all things Karl Lagerfeld,” this year’s theme allows for more creative interpretation. Expect an abundance of floral designs and a nod to vintage fashion.
Being chosen as a co-chair by Wintour is a prestigious honor. This year’s co-chairs include Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth, attending his first Met Gala, arrived early alongside Bad Bunny. Shou Chew, the CEO of TikTok, and Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe, serve as honorary chairs. Both companies are sponsors of the gala and exhibition.
