Exclusive Report: Gautam Gambhir Sole Applicant for Head Coach Role? BCCI Set to Interview Today, Reveals Major Development !

The term of the present coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid, will conclude after the T20 World Cup 2024. The BCCI has initiated the search for a new coach, with former opener Gautam Gambhir emerging as a prominent contender. In the meantime, it has been disclosed that the board might conduct an interview with Gambhir today. Furthermore, he is the sole individual who has submitted an application for this position.

Gambhir met the Home Minister

Following the talks about assuming the role of head coach, the experienced cricketer had a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday. Gambhir conveyed this update via social media. Alongside a photo with Shah, he expressed, “Met Home Minister Amit Shah ji to extend my congratulations on the recent electoral triumph. His effective leadership as Home Minister will enhance the security and stability of our country.” This encounter has sparked intense discussions in the market.

Big revelation in the report

Meanwhile, the report claims that Gambhir is the only applicant for the post of head coach. According to media reports, the veteran may appear for an interview in front of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on Zoom call today. Last month, the BCCI had invited applications for this post, the last date for which was fixed as May 27. The tenure of the new coach will be from July 2024 to December 31, 2027.

Who is included in the CAC?

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprises of ex-cricketers Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape, and Sulakshana Naik. According to reports, there is a possibility that the interview for the replacement of Salil Ankola as a selector may take place today. Both Ankola and the chief selector Ajit Agarkar belong to the West Zone, hence it is probable that the new selector will be chosen from the North Zone. Agarkar took over the position in July of the previous year, succeeding Chetan Sharma.

Gambhir is set to become the head coach!

It is rumored that Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders, is set to take on the role of head coach. Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah clarified that the board is seeking experienced individuals with a strong knowledge of domestic cricket. Shah emphasized that the process of finding the right coach for the national team is meticulous and thorough. The BCCI is focused on identifying candidates who possess a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have excelled in their respective roles. Additionally, Shah highlighted the significance of familiarity with Indian domestic cricket as a key criterion for the appointment of the next coach. He emphasized that this understanding will play a crucial role in elevating Team India to new heights.
