The Gujarat government is successfully drawing new investments to the state by hosting the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. This highly anticipated event, which commenced on January 10, has garnered positive feedback not only from within the country but also from international participants. The summit has been aptly themed as ‘Gateway to the Future’, reflecting the state’s vision for progress. With the implementation of smart city projects, such as Gujarat Industrial Finance Tech-City (GIFT) City in Gandhinagar, Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City in Surat, and Dholera Smart City in Ahmedabad, the government anticipates a substantial influx of investment, further contributing to the state’s development.

The possibility of Tesla Group investing in Gujarat is a significant event, especially considering it is the first investment organized after the Corona epidemic. Senior Minister Rushikesh Patel has confirmed ongoing discussions regarding Tesla’s potential investment in Gujarat. The state government remains optimistic about this opportunity.

Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (GIFT City) is an exemplary smart city in India, boasting exceptional infrastructure and meticulous planning. Inspired by renowned cities such as London, Shanghai, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai, GIFT City stands as a testament to the state government’s greenfield project. This city encompasses both commercial and residential complexes, creating a harmonious blend of functionality and livability.

GIFT City spans across an expansive 886 acres of land. The city has witnessed construction on a vast area of 620 lakh square feet, accommodating a range of facilities such as offices, residences, schools, hospitals, hotels, clubs, retail outlets, and entertainment venues. Situated on the banks of the Sabarmati River, GIFT City serves as a vital link between Gujarat’s commercial capital, Ahmedabad, and its political capital, Gandhinagar. Gujarat, being a key driver of India’s progress, enjoys a strategic location with excellent air connectivity, as it is a mere 12 km away from Ahmedabad International Airport.

One of the notable features of GIFT City is its dedicated Multi Service Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which facilitates international operations for various service-oriented companies. Moreover, GIFT Multi-Services SEZ holds the distinction of being India’s first approved International Financial Services Center (IFSC) by the Government of India. The establishment of an IFSC in India is expected to generate employment opportunities, stimulate economic activity, and boost revenue.

DREAM City, also known as Gujarat’s Diamond Research and Mercantile City, is a visionary project built on a vast expanse of 685 hectares in Surat. Its unique design and infrastructure are specifically tailored to address the future challenges faced by the diamond industry.

The primary objective of Dream City is to propel Surat’s diamond industry to new heights, aiming for an impressive annual turnover of over Rs 2 lakh crore. With this ambitious goal, Dream City envisions accounting for a remarkable 72 percent of the world’s processed diamonds, solidifying its position as a global leader in diamond production.

By providing state-of-the-art facilities and fostering innovation, Dream City is poised to become a thriving hub for the diamond industry. Its strategic location and comprehensive planning make it an ideal destination for businesses and investors seeking growth opportunities in this sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially opened the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), a significant component of Dream City and the second diamond trading hub in India. This establishment has created job opportunities for 150,000 individuals. It is worth noting that approximately 90 percent of Gujarat’s diamonds are processed in and around Surat, employing over 900,000 people. Gujarat is responsible for processing 80 percent of the world’s diamonds and contributes 80 percent to India’s overall diamond exports.

By 2035, it is anticipated that Gujarat will witness a significant urbanization rate of 60 percent. In order to accommodate this transformation, the Dream City infrastructure project has been strategically planned to be executed in stages until 2040. The project encompasses two phases, with a total investment of Rs 400 crore. Recognizing the importance of sustainable growth, the state is actively embracing models that prioritize urban planning and design, efficient waste management, and the creation of green spaces. These measures aim to ensure the development of cities that are both environmentally friendly and conducive to a high quality of life for its residents.

Dholera Sir Smart City, a visionary project initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to become the largest among the eight greenfield industrial cities. Foxconn-Vedanta has committed a staggering $20 billion investment to establish a semiconductor fabrication plant in this region. Spanning across 920 sq km, the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) encompasses approximately 22 villages. Currently, the majority of infrastructure development is concentrated within the 22.5 sq km activation zone of DSIR.

Dholera Sir Smart City has achieved full completion within a 25 km area. Notably, a man-made river measuring five kilometers in length, 110 meters in width, and 15 feet in depth now gracefully flows through the Dholera Sir Smart City area.

Within the smart city, which is being constructed on a 22 square kilometer plot in Dholera Sar, significant progress has been made in various aspects. The construction of roads, administrative buildings, water treatment plants, and the provision of water from Saurashtra and Narmada Canal, sewage treatment facilities, power transmission, internet connectivity, and gas pipelines have all been successfully accomplished. The first phase of this city is nearing completion, with 95 percent of the work already finished.
